A Legacy of Craftsmanship and Innovation
Fortifab Manufacturing Inc. is a company built on a rich history of craftsmanship, resilience, and innovation. Our story begins in the heart of Prussia, where the lands of Lithuania and Slovakia once converged. It was here that the blacksmith lineage "Kalis" and farmer lineage "Baras" forged a new surname: "Kaulbars." This humble origin, deeply rooted in craftsmanship and resilience, traces back to Polish Prussia.
Siegfried Kaulbars, a scion of this lineage, carried the legacy through the tumultuous and war-torn landscapes of Europe, eventually finding a new beginning in Canada. In 1950, Siegfried journeyed to Winnipeg, initially working as a uranium miner in Ontario. His wife, Gisela, followed, humorously mistaking snowy Canada for Russia.
Encouraged by Hartwell, founder of ECCO Heating, Siegfried established Siegs Manufacturing, a metal spinning company, in 1973. This step was pivotal, marking the genesis of a generational fabrication enterprise.
Under the clatter of machines and the glow of molten metal, their son Frank Kaulbars grew, his childhood shaped by the rhythms of the workshop. His hands, guided by his father's legacy, shaped critical projects like the Vancouver Skytrain panels and navigated the marijuana industry boom, which brought more local recognition and set the stage for technological advancements.
In 2017, Frank and his son Jordan, with a vision for the future, founded Fortifab Metals. Together, they introduced cutting-edge technologies like fiber lasers and robotic brake presses, propelling Fortifab into a new era. Siegfried and Gisela retired in 2017, passing the torch to the next generation.
Today, Fortifab Manufacturing Inc. serves a diverse range of industries. We are also actively exploring opportunities to contribute to the burgeoning space industry, leveraging our expertise in precision fabrication and innovative technologies.
As we look to the future, Fortifab is embracing large-format 3D printing, micro fabrication, robotics, automation, and AI-driven operations. The story behind Fortifab Manufacturing Inc.
2017-2019
Siegfried and Gesila are entering a new phase, leading to the evolution of their legacy into two distinct entities co-existing in the same facility. Frank spearheads Fortifab Inc, building upon the family's foundation, while his brother advances Sieg's Mfg, continuing their shared heritage. Fortifab adds state-of-the-art fiber laser-cutting system, welding power supplies and a robotic brake press.

By 2030, Fortifab has evolved into a cutting-edge metal manufacturing titan, boasting large-format 3D additive metal printers and state-of-the-art panel bender lines. With expansion investments into machining, mining, and new international locations, we're pioneering in large structure to micro fabrication, pushing boundaries all our projects. Our facilities are nearly fully automated, governed by AI-driven protocols for efficiency and precision. The maturation of a fluid, AI-enhanced management and monitoring system allows for instantaneous project scheduling post-digital quote approval through to finished products, setting new industry standards for speed and innovation.
